OFSTED Inspection and Report

OFSTED paid us a visit for an inspection on 20th November and have now published their report. The headline is that we have been graded as ‘Good’. We encourage you to read the report in full (it’s only two pages) because the text is highly complimentary of our setting, our staff and our approach to early years education and care. Here are some comments from the report:

“The pre-school is a calm, safe and stimulating environment.”

“Staff have high expectations and support children to develop good levels of independence…. This helps to prepare them well for their eventual move to school.”

“Staff are a committed team who have a good understanding of how children develop. All children… make good progress in their learning from their starting points.”

“Staff have high expectations for children’s behaviour and attitudes. They are good role models and help children to consider the impact of their actions on others.”

“Staff are kind and nurturing with children. They help children to develop good levels of self-confidence and a positive sense of belonging.”

The areas identified for improvement are how we formally record and promote continuous improvement and feedback from parents and guardians. These were areas Jackie was working towards addressing already but unfortunately the inspection came just a little too soon for her improvements to have been fully adopted.

Overall we are very pleased with the inspection outcome and welcome the findings which reinforce our own appraisal of where we need to improve. The committee are pleased and proud (but not surprised) to see the staff receive so much praise for the excellent work they do every day.

If you have any questions or feedback on the report please don’t hesitate to contact us.
